My Very Own Blanket is an organization of volunteers dedicated to helping children in foster care feel valued and comforted. We connect diverse people, community groups, businesses and services as we make and deliver personalized blankets and other personal items to children in foster care.
FOUNDER/ EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Jessica is a mother of three wonderful children Evan 16, Adam 15 and Cecilia 14. Next to this, she considers her most enriching endeavor to be serving as Founder of My Very Own Blanket (MVOB)! Starting MVOB in 1999 out of her home, she has helped grow and develop the organization in its 13 years to donate over 55.000 blankets to children in the foster care system in both Ohio and surrounding states! MVOB has been able to fill a volunteer need with the senior generation, church groups, circles of friends, Girl Scout troops, numerous private and public schools, including colleges and universities, as well as working with inmates in both a male and female prison. Jessica feels she simply plays the small part of the needle that sews all of these threads together! She is an active member of Worthington Presbyterian Church, where she has had the privilege throughout the years to teach both Sunday school and the church school, Choir Plus, become active in the Jr & Sr High Youth groups, and serve on the Missions Committee that oversees outreach service work locally, statewide, nationwide and globally. She currently is serving as a board member for the Westerville Special Olympics as the volunteer coordinator for the Westerville Olympic Experience. She is a leader for her daughter's Cadette Girl Scout troop, and in years past has been a host Mother to 10 high school exchange students from 10 different countries through the Sunrise Rotary Club of Westerville youth exchange program! In her "spare" time, she loves to spend time traveling with her children on both short and long trips, be active in Bible studies, cook, quilt and work on her stained glass!
